How Surrey work differs from our Sussex jobs

Surrey sits at the outer edge of our patch, roughly an hour from the Lancing workshop depending on where you are and what the A24 is doing. We are straight with people about what that means rather than pretending distance is irrelevant.

It means Surrey suits project work rather than single small items. A stairwell balustrade, a run of rooflights for an extension, a full bathroom of screens, or several rooms of secondary glazing all justify the journey comfortably. One replacement pane or a single small mirror does not, and you will be better served by someone closer. We would rather tell you that on the phone than take the job and do it grudgingly.

It also means we batch. Where we have two or three Surrey jobs running, we group surveys and fits into the same trips, which keeps our costs down and yours with them. If your timing is flexible by a week or so, say so and it often helps.

What we tend to do in Surrey

The mix skews towards larger domestic projects: extension rooflights and lanterns, frameless balustrades on open-plan stairs and galleried landings, and structural internal glazing in converted or extended houses. There is also a steady amount of heritage work, since the county has a great deal of protected housing stock and the same listed building rules apply as in Sussex.

Everything is still made in Lancing and fitted by our own team. We do not appoint local subcontractors in Surrey, which is precisely why the coverage has a limit rather than stretching to wherever the enquiry comes from.
