One county, three quite different sets of glass problems

West Sussex is not one market and treating it as one produces bad specifications. From the workshop in Lancing we deal with three distinct conditions, and which one you are in changes what we recommend.

The coastal strip, Littlehampton through Worthing and Lancing to Shoreham, is defined by salt and wind. Standard 304 stainless fittings corrode here; we use 316 marine grade on exposed elevations as standard, and design to higher wind pressures on seafront balconies than we would a few miles inland.

The Downs villages, Steyning, Storrington, Bramber, Amberley and the rest, are defined by planning. A large share sits inside the South Downs National Park or a conservation area, with a high proportion of listed buildings. That pushes work towards secondary glazing and restoration rather than replacement, and it means consent is part of the conversation.

The northern towns, Horsham and around, are defined by extensions and new build. More rooflights, more structural glazing, more open-plan stairs wanting frameless balustrades, and far fewer planning constraints.

Coverage in practice

We survey anywhere in West Sussex free of charge, and all thirteen services are available county-wide with no reduced menu for the outlying areas. Response times are quickest along the coastal corridor either side of Lancing, and for emergency work that corridor is usually a same-day response. Further north or west we will give you an honest time on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
