We repair and restore glazing across Sussex, from misted double glazing in modern homes to leaded lights and putty-bedded sashes in listed buildings. The aim is to keep the existing window where we can and put it back to working order. Period restoration is priced per project.

Misted double glazing
Replace the failed sealed unit, keep the frame. The most common repair we do.
Cracked or broken glass
Replace the pane in the existing frame, matched to the original spec.
Leaded lights
Re-lead, replace cracked panes, restore deformed panels.
Putty-bedded sashes
Re-putty, re-bed, replace failed panes in linseed putty.
Stained and decorative glass
Repair where possible, replicate where not.
Listed building glazing
Always treat with care; we work with local conservation officers as needed.

How the job runs

Photos or a site visit to confirm what has failed, seal, frame, putty or lead, and what the right repair is.

Repair-first quote with a clear estimate of how long it will hold. Replacement is a fallback if the original is too far gone.

Manufacture
Sealed units made to size with the correct gas fill. Period glass sourced where the original is unavailable.

On-site repair
Most sealed-unit swaps are a single visit, 30–60 minutes per window. Period restoration is bench work in our Lancing workshop.

Care notes
We hand back the window with a care sheet, linseed putty needs slightly different treatment to modern silicone.

Yes. Linseed putty is the right material for period sashes. We rake out the failed putty, re-bed and re-putty.
Like-for-like repair on a non-listed property does not normally need consent. On a listed building, listed building consent is needed for almost any work on the original windows. We can advise.
Almost always, yes. A sealed unit replacement is a fraction of the cost of a new window. The frame is usually the most expensive part.
