Glass canopies

Glass canopies, made and installed across Sussex

A glass canopy gives you cover from the rain over a doorway without blocking the daylight or hiding the architecture behind it. We design and install frameless toughened laminated glass canopies for front doors, shop entrances and walkways across Sussex.

Glass canopies by Brooklands Glass Centre
Why Brooklands

A canopy fix that pulls out of the brickwork two winters in is a safety failure - we discharge-test the brick before drilling the final positions.

Hove and Brighton brickwork is variable. Standard expansion anchors will sometimes hold and sometimes not. We sample-test the fix on every project and use 316 marine-grade stainless on the coast as standard so the brackets do not corrode. Toughened laminated glass throughout in case of a debris strike.

Where they make sense

Where canopies make sense

Period homes

Where a fabric porch would look wrong. The glass is invisible from the street and protects visitors from the weather.

Modern front doors

A standard front door without an integrated canopy gets soaked when guests are waiting.

Shop and office entrances

A glass canopy is a cleaner look than a metal awning and it lets daylight through.

Walkways between buildings

Toughened laminated glass on stainless steel uprights and brackets.

How we work

How the job runs

Five steps. Same on every glass canopies job, big or small.

01

Survey

We confirm the substrate above the door is structurally sound. We need to fix into something that can take the static load and the wind load.

02

Quote

Written quote with bracket finish and glass thickness. Document A wind-load calculations included.

03

Manufacture

Toughened laminated glass cut to size, edges polished. Two to four weeks for most jobs.

04

Install

Half a day for a domestic canopy. Brackets fixed first, glass dropped in, sealants finished.

05

Sign off

Care sheet and any structural paperwork emailed to you within the week.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about glass canopies from our customers across Sussex.

In most cases yes. Solid masonry handles the load easily. Timber-framed walls need a closer survey. We confirm during the site visit.
We set the glass with a slight fall away from the building. Rain runs off the front edge, not the door edge. We can also fit a discreet drip detail if needed.
Yes. Toughened laminated glass is sized to handle wind loads for the location. Coastal Sussex needs slightly thicker glass than inland Sussex. We engineer for it.
Often yes, because a glass canopy is visually unobtrusive. We are happy to liaise with the conservation officer if needed.
Yes, on commercial canopies. Discreet LED strips fit into the bracket detail.
